Homes in Selby

Selby is a market town on the River Ouse, best known for its 900-year-old abbey. The town centre has Georgian and Victorian buildings around the market place and abbey, with brick terraces in the surrounding streets. Selby grew in the 20th century with the Selby coalfield, opened in the 1980s and closed by 2004, which brought new housing.
Brayton, Barlby and Thorpe Willoughby are large villages with estates from the 1960s onwards and significant new-build developments popular with commuters to York and Leeds. Hambleton and Osgodby offer a mix of older and newer homes. Selby sits on the flat, low-lying Vale of York, and the Ouse has flooded the town several times, most severely in 1947 and 2000. Brick and pantile cottages survive in the older villages around the town.
Areas we cover include Brayton, Barlby, Thorpe Willoughby, Hambleton, Osgodby.
