Homes in Kendal

Kendal, known as the auld grey town for its limestone buildings, is a market town on the River Kent at the southern edge of the Lake District. Its historic core is built around yards, narrow alleys running off the main streets, lined with stone cottages and converted workshops. Georgian and Victorian stone houses line the main streets and climb the hillsides on either side of the valley.
Post-war council and private estates fill the outer parts of town, and new-build developments have been added on the edges, including towards Oxenholme. Villages such as Natland and Burneside offer stone cottages and larger period homes. Kendal was hit hard by Storm Desmond in 2015, when the Kent and its tributaries flooded hundreds of homes, and flood defence work has since been carried out.
Areas we cover include Oxenholme, Natland, Burneside, Sedgwick.
