Bromley is London's largest borough by area and among its greenest, ranging from Victorian suburbs at Penge and Beckenham to interwar estates around Orpington and countryside villages in the south. Geology varies widely: London Clay in the north, sands and gravels in places, and chalk to the south and east, where solution features and old chalk workings such as Chislehurst Caves are known.
